| The Autonomous Community makes 3,200 coronavirus tests available to the municipalities, while the PSOE mayor in Lorca continues to discriminate against municipal employees | The popular demand that they do not miss this opportunity The Councilor for Health in the city of Lorca for the Popular Party, Mayte Martínez, has demanded that the mayor of the PSOE not miss the opportunity offered by the regional government chaired by Fernando López Miras, who has made 3,200 units available to the municipalities of coronavirus tests so that both Local Police officers and members of the Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Service can access this test.
We are talking about an initiative that comes from the Ministry of Health, and that was communicated to the city council last week.
We demand that they respond immediately, because, since they have been unable to provide our local police officers with this resource, at least do not miss the chance that it is the Popular Party through its regional government, which enables agents to access this resource. The reality is that the regional government offers the COVID-19 tests completely free of charge, which the PSOE mayor has refused to carry out on behalf of municipal employees.
It is not common sense that the mayor himself does not protect his employees as he should, and discriminates against them.
What the PSOE mayor has to do is follow the example of the majority of municipalities in our country, proceeding immediately to the realization of COVID-19 screening tests on these workers.
The decision of the current mayor to discriminate against municipal employees in carrying out these tests, precisely excluding the most vulnerable, is a real nonsense and recklessness. From the PP we demand that Lorca not be left behind due to the incapacity of an exhausted, "burned" and failed government, but that we must be, at least, at the height of the rest of the cities, proceeding to carry out the tests of detection of coronaviruses that from the regional government are made available to the city council completely free of charge. It seems to us correct that the employees of Limusa and Aguas de Lorca already have these tests, so we demand that the same coverage be provided to the rest of the employees of the city council, why some yes and others no? We do not understand the obscurantism and the lack of transparency that is being attempted on this issue.
In fact, we have had to find out from sources outside the municipal activity that tests of this type were being carried out on some groups of municipal workers, leaving aside others, from whom this issue has been hidden. From the Popular Party we demand that the socialist mayor stop looking for excuses and turn his back on Lorca, and proceed immediately to protect municipal employees by conducting these tests.
We want all the workers who carry out their tasks to the public have this resource.
We are talking about a tool that not only protects this professional group, but also constitutes a guarantee for all citizens who have to carry out any type of procedure in the different municipal offices. Other municipalities have acted with foresight and have anticipated the circumstances, protecting their citizens with this health tool.
There are even some cities in which their mayors have decided to extend the performance of these tests to all inhabitants.
Unfortunately, and once again, we have to regret that the mayor of the PSOE prefers the comfort of the office and that the work is done by others, so he leaves most municipal employees untested and prefers that time goes by without doing anything.
.
These are not ways of governing or solving citizens' problems. The reality is that they have everything standing at the town hall, confirming that they have no project for Lorca and they just watch the days go by, improvising and solving nothing.
The only projects and investments that are materializing are those of the regional government of the Popular Party.
