In the face of the health, economic and social emergency caused by the worldwide pandemic of the Covid-19 coronavirus, the Spanish Red Cross launched the RESPONDE PLAN, giving a comprehensive response to situations of need for the general population and vulnerable people in particular.
The coordination of our Autonomous Office with the Public Administrations and with the different Local Assemblies of the Red Cross, has allowed more than 2,500 services of various kinds to be carried out in the Region of Murcia.Specifically in Lorca the Local Assembly of the Spanish Red Cross has carried out:- Delivery of food and basic needs to 269 families- Delivery of medications at home to people with reduced mobility and high risk of contagion.- Distribution of food and personal hygiene kits in settlements and homeless people 21.- More than 325 telephone calls have been made to elderly people in a situation of loneliness and high risk of contagion to cover their basic needs in the period of confinement. - From our headquarters we have made calls to 1,027 users from all over the Region of Murcia interested in their needs and concerns.-Volunteers of our Assembly have actively participated in the installation of three temporary shelters in the region and in the transportation and delivery of medicines at the regional level.- Distribution of 250 masks and active information in the weekly market on the occasion of its reopening, to raise awareness of the need to adopt preventive measures for contagion through the use of masks, gloves, disinfectant gels and social distancing.- The Red Cross Youth has carried out various information campaigns on social networks about alcohol and drug consumption, gender violence, distribution of books and toys.- Collaboration with logistical support in the delivery of food to the homes of users of social services of the City Councils of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras.- We collaborate with the Rafael Méndez Hospital in Lorca and Reina Sofía in Murcia for the distribution of hospital pharmacy to high-risk patients.- We collaborate with Cáritas in the collection and distribution of food.- We have collaborated with Hostelor and the writer Fran J.
Marber with logistical support in the preparation and distribution of more than 6,900 hats, 4,600 gowns, 3,000 masks and 200 sanitary hose to hospitals, nursing homes and other health centers in Lorca, all They are made by Lorca's seamstresses altruistically and in solidarity.All this has been achieved thanks to donations from companies, partners, associations and individuals in our city, more than 45 volunteers who have used their time and Red Cross technicians.
Our reward is the satisfaction of others.
