The City Council of Lorca will light up green tomorrow in support and solidarity for people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (20/06/2020)

| On the occasion of World ALS Day | The councilor of Oenegés, María Dolores Chumillas, points out that the Lorca council, the ELA Region of Murcia Association and AEMA III, join the #LuzporlaELA movement, with this gesture that will take place from 9:30 p.m.

The councilor for Oenegés of the Lorca City Council, María Dolores Chumillas, has reported that tomorrow, Sunday, June 21, coinciding with World Day of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ELA), the Consistory façade will light up green. The mayor of Oenegés has detailed that "the Lorca municipality, the ELA Region of Murcia Association and AEMA III, join the #LuzporlaELA movement this morning, with this gesture of illuminating tomorrow, from 9:30 p.m., the City Council with green, a color that symbolizes this disease.

" María Dolores Chumillas explained that "it is a symbolic action that will be carried out at the national level and that is promoted by the Luzón Foundation, with the aim of giving visibility to this disease and thus supporting affected people, raising awareness also to the Company about the difficulties they encounter in their day to day and stating that "ELA exists". In addition, Chumillas, has indicated that "this year, the entities of the ELA Community have launched the wELApop Campaign 'If you cannot live your life, sell it', to vindicate to the public administrations that all people suffering from ALS Regardless of where they live, they are guaranteed all the necessary care for a better quality of life.

" In the Region, the municipalities of Murcia have also joined this initiative, where the Moneo Building, Paseo Alfonso X, Almudí Palace and the Segura river bed will be illuminated; Totana, Jumilla and Caravaca, where like the Lorca the City Hall will light up; Yecla; San Pedro del Pinatar who will do it in the Sports pavilion; Molina de Segura in the Sports Pavilions of 'El Romera'; Bullas, at the Fuente de Adolfo Suarez; Cartagena with the monument to the submarine Isaac Peral in Cartagena; and the Urban Center building in Murcia, owned by the Fuentes GROUP. It should be remembered that Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that progressively paralyzes the muscles of the body until causing death.

It is declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the most cruel diseases, the cause of which is unknown.

A disease that quickly confines the person in full consciousness in her own body, preventing any voluntary movement such as talking, swallowing, moving, walking and, finally, breathing.

In Spain, every day, three new cases of ALS are diagnosed and three people die from this disease.
