| The councilor of this formation, Gloria Martín, pointed out the passivity of the state, regional and local administrations to monitor, control and sanction behaviors that irreparably attack the nature that Lorca treasures | The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, today denounced the "inaction" of the state, regional and local administrations in avoiding attacks on the natural heritage of the Ortillo deputation and on the boulevards that flow into the Guadalentín river . Martín raised the alarm about the breakage of large tracts of undergrowth land without it being known if he has the relevant authorizations, with the consequent erosion and loss of the soil and natural habitats essential for the conservation of protected fauna, such as the black tortoise or the eagle owl.

However, much of the area of ??this county council is considered a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and a Special Bird Protection Area (SPA).The practices denounced by IU-Verdes include the reduction of the channel of some boulevards, such as that of Ortillo, "to its minimum expression", which is also causing the disappearance of entire stretches of gallery forest.

Also spills of manure and soundings not authorized by the CHS.

 From the point of view of Law 14/2016, of November 7, on the Monumental Tree Heritage of the Region of Murcia, Martín recalled that this rule should also protect a listed monumental poplar, which has recently lost one of its four arms , or the oak-gall oak forest, which together with the tarayes forest of the Puentes reservoir, are the only protected tree communities within the municipality. The lack of environmental protection also constitutes a threat to the geological wealth of boulevards such as that of Las Canteras or Los Coroneles, for which IU-Verdes has demanded protection on numerous occasions.The mayor of IU-Verdes also alluded to the proliferation of macro-farms and extensive pig farms, which have already begun to generate problems of coexistence with the residents who inhabit this deputation.

In this regard, Martín regretted that the administrations are prioritizing the interest of private business to the detriment of the protection of the natural environment and the paleontological and cultural heritage."They have razed the Lorca orchard and now they are going to drain the natural resources of northern districts such as Ortillo, Parrilla, Fontanares or Jarales and the Highlands," said Martín, who assured that the "uncontrolled voracity" of some productive sectors is compromising any possibility of sustainable rural development in these areas.Against this background, Martín has asked himself "where are" the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, the Ministry of the Environment or the City Council itself, because "no administration is doing anything to avoid irreversible damage to the natural heritage of the area." For this reason, the mayor of IU-Verdes has demanded more endowment of means so that there is "a body of environmental agents dimensioned to the innumerable protected spaces that our broad municipal area possesses", that "watches, controls and sanctions behaviors that irreparably attack against the nature that Lorca treasures ".
