| We are Lorca, We are Region | Since the state of alarm was declared in March 2020 until today there have been a series of problems that the governments (Autonomous, Central and Local) have not been able to solve.
After a harsh confinement at home that paralyzed the country's economy until the use of the mask as mandatory under certain conditions, there have been a series of measures that HAVE NOT BEEN EFFECTIVE to control the pandemic. When the Government was distributing and accommodating itself in the armchairs in December and January in Moncloa, the COVID19 circulated in Spain.
They authorized mass meetings in favor of women due to partisan image, Fernando Simón encouraged people to go to the demonstration without fear of contagion and they kept the Public Health System out of stock of masks, stretchers, respirators or PPE material for health personnel. The question arises if the total confinement of the population was necessary in March because we are now in August and after this confinement and the subsequent relaxation of the population we once again have levels of COVID19 cases similar to the months of confinement.
In other neighboring countries the measures have been less restrictive and are now in a much better epidemic situation than the Spanish one.We consider that the first and most drastic measure should be the MANDATORY USE OF THE MASK since January or February and not since the Summer, at that time (at the beginning of the pandemic) it would have been more effective than now and the number of deaths would have been lower in the first wave and we hope it will be the last.
This simple measure if it had been adopted at the time would have saved many lives and many jobs.
But according to the government, there were no masks in Spain and we had to buy them from the Chinese at market prices, that is, at the price of GOLD.
Now we have improved something, we buy them from Morocco.
That they are cheaper because they are closer.
Now we have masks for the entire population and for health personnel.
By the way, we have lost count of how many deaths we have. There are two methods of epidemiological surveillance, active and passive.
PASSIVE surveillance is the one that is being carried out now, it consists of waiting for someone to get sick and arrive at the health center or hospital to have the PCR test done to find out if it is positive, if it is positive it would be established a contact tracing and they would also be tested.
It basically consists of waiting for people to get sick and then moving and acting. There is another method of epidemiological surveillance that is ACTIVE, it consists of taking samples from the population by areas, strategic places, points of high concentration of workers, vulnerable sectors (agricultural, meat, geriatric) without waiting for them to get sick.
They are statistical random samplings, to a percentage of the population that could act as a “sentinel” and if positive are detected then the passive method could be activated.
PASSIVE surveillance is useless if it is not complemented with ACTIVE surveillance, one acts before the focus and another acts after the focus appears. In Lorca we do not know the general epidemiological situation of its neighborhoods and districts because the population has not been sampled.
We do not know those who are asymptomatic carriers and we want to know their percentage in each area of ??Lorca, their prevalence.
We only know the people who have gone to the Hospital or Health Center for tests because they feel sick and have tested positive.FROM WE ARE THE REGION, WE PROPOSE that more random controls be carried out on the population of Lorca and the Region of Murcia in certain strategic places and population groups that are more exposed to risk.
We propose taking samples from a percentage of the population that works in agricultural warehouses and meat industries, leisure centers with a large influx of public, supermarket workers, public transport drivers and any person who may pose a risk of spreading the virus. We are Lorca, We are Region
