The Popular Party of Lorca took to the last plenary session a battery of measures, in a positive way, to help the planning and organization of the different scenarios for the return of the students to the classrooms in September.
All these measures, which were specified in the Municipal Educational Contingency Plan, were shaped taking into account the educational and administrative laws that define the competencies in education, prescriptive, of local entities, city councils.The Plan was explained and debated in the municipal plenary session to later be voted on by the political formations that make up said plenary session.
The motion had the support of the Popular Party, Vox and Citizens and incomprehensibly with the NO of the PSOE and IU, who are only interested in blaming the regional government without taking into account their legally constituted obligations.
The surprise of the Popular Party, which took this proposal in order to contribute and help education, was the rejection of these two formations, without providing any amendment to improve what was presented, or any amendment to expand the plan with other points, that they had been received in a positive way, because we all add up in education.
It seems that the strictly political is above the interests of our educational communities.We remind you that it was Minister Celaá herself who, through a Royal Decree, obliges the autonomous communities to begin in person with all students at the beginning of the 20/21 academic year, without contributing anything else, until this moment to said decree.
For its part, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Region of Murcia, have implemented an educational continuity Plan, which was even applauded by the central government and that no autonomous community has carried out.
Moreover, the Minister of Education, Esperanza Moreno, announced in July a battery of measures estimated at almost 50 million euros to implement in educational centers.
The incorporation of 500 new teachers, with a value of 20 million euros, the purchase of 40,000 electronic devices, 17,000 mobile devices and 23 computers,valued at more than 17 million euros, in addition to an additional increase of 2 million euros for school canteens in educational centers, an additional 5 million for works that are needed in schools and more than 5 million additional for extraordinary operation for schools.

Mayor of Lorca Diego José Mateos, that his obligation is to carry out what the plenary session approves, even if he votes against the result.We also want to make known to the entire educational community that such a Municipal Educational Contingency Plan exists and that they require the Department of Education to put it into practice, remember, mandatory because it is approved by the municipal plenary session, but what is the City Council worth?
