| It hosts an exhibition with more than 80 pieces made by three artisans from the Region that consists of paintings, handkerchiefs, bags and other items | Until the end of the month, the Lorca Regional Handicraft Center hosts the exhibition 'Painters', which shows the works of three artisans from the Region on different supports, which stand out for their showiness and color. The artisans Rosa Torres, Lidia Cassi and Andrea Lopando exhibit a very varied selection of unique hand-painted pieces that include paintings, scarves, kimonos, umbrellas, bags, slippers and fans, among other elements. This exhibition "aims to highlight the role that women have had as a key element for the transmission of the culture of artisan trades and their current weight within the sector in the Region, to which they contribute new ideas and concepts that enrich it," said the General Director of Consumption and Crafts, Carolina Espinosa. The artisan Rosa Torres paints scarves, fans, kimonos, bags and trays by hand, using textures as diverse as satin, chiffon, velvet or silk, with which she creates unique pieces.
In 2001 she received the Mercury Prize for Craftsmanship, awarded by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Murcia and she has been a Master Craftswoman of the Region of Murcia since 2005. The creator Lidia Cassi presents in this exhibition her new paintings on scarves, fans, meninas and slippers, which reveal her conception of this art as a transition from tradition to modernity. The painter Andrea Lopando shows a series of paintings called 'Women', in which she represents women in their privacy, as well as sculptures and handkerchiefs painted on natural silks.
Her main activity is portraiture, both in painting and sculpture.
