The municipality of Lorca, through the Youth Council, will execute an investment of 47,000 euros in works with which to turn this center into a place accessible to people with reduced mobility and, in turn, open new spaces for youth, through a youth association hotel The councilors of Recruitment and Youth, Isidro Abell and Jos ngel Ponce, respectively, have announced the investment that the City of Lorca is making in the face of the remodeling of the M13 Youth Resource Center.
Isidro Abell n explained that "the Lorca City Council has begun work to improve accessibility as well as to create new spaces and services for the M13 Youth Center, integrated into the garden area next to the University Campus, for which we are going to make an investment of 47,000 euros ".
The works, which began at the end of last December, will have an approximate execution period of one month.
The mayor has detailed that "the process of reconditioning actions of the Youth Center has begun, in a first phase, with the works to improve accessibility at the main entrance for which an access ramp and an entrance with an exterior glazed enclosure ".
In addition, in the entrance hall next to the access stairs to the upper floor, a hydraulic elevator will be installed to facilitate access to the second floor for all those with reduced mobility, and the upper floor will be They will adapt the toilets to people with functional diversity.
In the same way, it has reported that "this set of actions will allow the reorganization of the space available in the two-story building where, on the ground floor, the multipurpose rooms, training and study rooms, dedicated to meetings and information technology as well as two offices destined to youth orientation and information ".
For his part, Jos ngel Ponce has indicated that "the second floor will be the one dedicated to youth socialization, where the associative movement of the municipal term will play an important role.
Specifically, the opening of a youth association hotel, self-managed by the groups themselves together with the Youth Council.
A 'hotel' designed so that those youth organizations that do not have a physical location can use this service to meet and carry out their activities .
In addition, this second floor will also house the headquarters of the Lorca Youth Council and the Cazalla Intercultural Association, along with auxiliary spaces, warehouses and other services ".
"Ultimately, it is about creating stable spaces that offer resources and opportunities that allow our young people to enhance their personal autonomy and their capacities by offering them a space where they can enable meetings and coexistence; the realization of leisure activities and free time, recreational, sports; the development of training and personal development actions; offer youth information and access to new technologies, as well as the study classroom service ".
Both councilors have shown that "this government team is committed to youth associationism and to work on the creation of reference spaces for families where they can receive information, training and support for their children so that we offer spaces that constitute an environment of coexistence and healthy leisure that allows reducing risk factors and enhancing the protection factors of young people ".
