Rosa Mara Medina will demand before the municipal plenary session that the municipal technical services draw up a report detailing the consequences that the reimbursement of this money will entail, which remained in the Treasury of the City Council until the current mayor started spending it on things like 800,000 euros on cars.
The Municipal Plan of Fulgencio Gil, has as a priority point to immobilize immediately the 9.5 million euros that Iberdrola demands, something that they will request through a motion in the next plenary session, in which, in addition, requires that the municipal budget for the year 2021 be drawn up taking into account the reserve of this amount.
The return of the 9.5 million euros that Iberdrola claims from the city of Lorca would entail, among other direct consequences, the imposition of a severe Economic-Financial Intervention Plan against the municipal coffers, which will translate into more tax and fee increases for Lorca, who are the ones who will really end up paying for the recklessness committed by the current mayor, who has already spent the money that remained reserved in the coffers municipal while the Popular Party governed.
Given the seriousness of the situation, Rosa Mara Medina, the Councilor for the Economy and Finance in the Lorca town hall for the PP, has demanded the urgent elaboration by the municipal technical services of a complete and detailed report that evaluated the economic and budgetary impact that the return of the aforementioned economic amount would have.
The objective is for all Lorca to know what the real repercussion of this problem will be, which Mr.
Mateos has hidden from the public opinion for months and which he refuses to inform the groups municipal despite the fact that we take it insistently claiming it.
What we Lorca cannot afford is to find ourselves again the same problems that existed in 2007 when we close the current parenthesis.
That is why we have to act as soon as possible.
Lorca does not deserve that the politicians who govern us repeat the serious mistakes of the past.
We do not want another blow like the one of the trap urban agreements, approved alone by the PSOE in 2005, and that today, 16 years later, we are still paying.
The city council has a sword of Damocles on it that could fall at any moment, and no action has been taken to prevent such destruction.
It is absurd for Mr.
Mateos to propose the adoption of any agreement related to the City Council's economy if he does not already reserve the 9.5 million euros that we can lose, nor fiscal ordinances, nor budgets.
The current mayor knew it since July and continues to do nothing, it is an economic suicide.
The mayor of the PSOE is having a reckless and irresponsible attitude on this matter, which he does not want to talk about.
But you have to be aware that a problem of this magnitude is not going to be solved by looking the other way.
In fact, it is frivolous that despite knowing since July that he could not spend these 9.5 million euros, they have been struck down on such important issues as buying cars for an amount of 800,000 euros, rescuing Limusa after ruin it for 500,000 euros, and thus up to five million euros of spending in less than a year.
The Fulgencio Gil Municipal Plan, which sets itself the objective of helping to close the parenthesis suffered by the City Council due to the failure of the current government, has as a priority point immediately immobilizing the 9.5 million euros that Iberdrola claims, something that we are going to request through a motion in the next plenary session, in which, in addition, we demand that the municipal budget for the year 2021 be prepared taking into account the reserve of this amount.
Contrary to what Mr.
Mateos has done, Fulgencio Gil made the decision not to make use of that money, and thus announced to Lorca in February 2019, "the money from the judgment that It is equivalent to 11.5 percent of the budget and it will remain in the municipal coffers until there is a final judgment.
Expenditure items will not be generated from that item.
Thus, this amount remained intact in the Municipal Treasury, which had 12 million euros thanks to the management of Fulgencio Gil, as well as 6.5 million euros of annual surplus.
