Francisco Morales: "The proposal that we will defend in the next Plenary Session includes the elaboration of a Basic Supply Guarantee Plan with direct financial aid to vulnerable consumers and families.
A disproportionate increase in income is not acceptable.
27% on the electricity bill when it is most necessary to heat Lorca and Spanish homes.
We must correct it.
" Francisco Morales Gonzlez, spokesman councilor for the Municipal Citizens Group in the City Council of Lorca will take a motion to the next Plenary of the Corporation to demand the reduction of the electricity rate through the elimination of taxes and the reduction of VAT to 10% for electricity and gas.
Francisco Morales has reported that "the proposal that we will defend in the next Plenary Session includes the elaboration of a Basic Supply Guarantee Plan with direct financial aid to vulnerable consumers and families.
A rise is not acceptable.
disproportionate 27% in the electricity bill when it is most necessary to heat Lorca and Spanish homes.
We must correct it ".
For this reason, Ciudadanos Lorca will defend a motion in the ordinary plenary session for the month of January to reduce the enormous impact of the rise in electricity costs.
The liberal formation regrets that the January slope worsens with economic demands on families, the self-employed and SMEs, adding a 27% rise to the price of electricity to the already precarious one and dire economic situation derived from the pandemic.
This increase coincides with a time of great demand for electricity due to the storm 'Filomena', which Francisco Morales has considered "disproportionate." The Citizens' proposal calls on the national government to promote measures to end the double taxation established on electricity and natural gas bills, removing electricity and hydrocarbon taxes from the VAT tax base, respectively.
The Citizens' spokesperson has stated that "being a staple good, the electricity bill has a VAT 21%.
It is necessary to reduce this tax to the reduced rate of 10% for electricity and natural gas bills, at less while the exceptional situation generated by the Covid-19 pandemic lasts ".
In this sense, Morales has added that "our commitment to the people of Lorca is to do everything possible to reduce energy poverty and this measure contributes to this.
That is why we demand direct economic aid to vulnerable consumers and families and agreements to offset the costs derived from the suspension of the interruption of supplies due to non-payment, especially during the winter months ".
Ciudadanos intends to promote a reform of the electricity tariff so that consumers do not have to bear the costs that are not associated with the generation and distribution of electricity, as well as to promote the necessary legislative initiatives to regulate a social guarantee of access to basic supplies for all consumers and families in situations of vulnerability.
