| And could be concluded by the month of April | The works are currently focused on Eugenio Úbeda streets and the old Lonja square, in the area adjacent to the Fuente del Oro.
This is a global investment of around two million euros and benefits an urban area of ??90,000 meters squares.
The comprehensive urban renewal works that are being carried out on Avenida de Santa Clara and adjacent streets, within the program of improvement interventions throughout the municipality for the recovery of Lorca after the earthquakes financed by the regional government of the Popular Party, they have already exceeded 70% of their execution.
In this way, and according to the forecast made by the company that is executing the work, the tasks will be completed in the first days of April.
It is a project that benefits an urban area of ??90,000 square meters, with an investment of almost two million euros, promoted by Fulgencio Gil and Fernando López Miras, The works are currently focused on Eugenio Úbeda streets and the old Lonja square, in the area adjacent to the Fuente del Oro (recovered for all Lorca thanks to the work of Fulgencio Gil's team).
It should be noted that the works in this last space have been affected by the delay in the granting of permits by the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, which, once settled, are being developed with the planned schedule.
Fulgencio Gil has stated that it is one of the most outstanding improvement actions within the wide battery of works that are carried out both in the urban area and in the districts.
The works contemplate a general improvement of infrastructures that pursues the sustainable development of the area, the well-being of citizens and their participation in the collective life of the city.
In addition to Avenida de Santa Clara, the works include its continuation to the Alberca bridges, Manterola pedestrian walkway, the bridge that connects with Avenida de Europa, and the old railway bridge.
The project also includes the area of ??Residencial Miguel Ángel, with the limit of the railway line and Calle San Indalecio, and the area delimited by Calle Eugenio Úbeda and Callejón de los Frailes, Calle Paso Blanco and Plaza Virgen de la Amargura .
The actions contemplate the improvement of connectivity between neighborhoods, accessibility and new provision of leisure spaces.
A new green backbone axis is created next to the Guadalentín river, joining the Avenida de Europa bridge with the Puente de la Alberca, through a pedestrian zone along the river, generating a new free landscaped space in the Antigua area.
Lonja, next to the Fuente de Oro.
On the other side of the bridge from Avenida de Europa, the existing green area is completed and the old railway footbridge is improved.
Continuity has been granted to the open space and the park of the Plaza Virgen de la Amargura by Calle Paso Blanco, expanding the green areas with planting trees, implantation of new urban furniture, regenerating the area to favor neighborhood life and improve its relationship with the surrounding urban fabric.
Regarding the renewal of services to improve energy efficiency, services are renewed where it is considered possible and necessary.
It also includes the renovation of water supply, sanitation and rainwater facilities, installation of LED lights, improvement of the telecommunications network and power lines.
Fulgencio Gil has indicated that the current mayor promised several months ago that the city council would carry out the waterproofing of the Miguel Ángel residential square and the improvement of Molins de Rei street.
However, we note that this announcement has not had continuity, and the corresponding administrative procedures have not been initiated, so we demand that this process be expedited and given the speed it deserves, since it would be a serious mistake to complete the regeneration works in the entire area except for these that the current local government has to carry out.
