José Ángel Ponce: "Citizens continue to see incredulous how the government of Mr.
López Miras considers that it is safer to keep the gaming halls and betting rooms open, with little light and ventilation, than the bars and restaurants that, from the first moment of the pandemic, they have complied with all security measures " The Councilor for Health of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has expressed his regret at "the irresponsibility of a Popular Party of Lorca that has once again put its political and partisan interests ahead of the needs of its neighbors and guarantee the security of Lorca and Lorca by voting against requesting the Regional Government to close gambling venues and betting rooms for purely health reasons due to the current situation caused by the pandemic.
" Ponce explained that "from the socialist municipal group we have presented this motion to the Ordinary Plenary for the month of January with which we pursue a measure that we understand as justice because we still do not understand that the Regional Government allows to have this type of facilities open while it closes and while condemning our hoteliers to lower their blinds.
" The mayor has indicated that "we return to attend one more sample in which the PP of Lorca again bows his head to his colleagues in the Regional Government and refuses to demand the closure of gambling venues and gambling halls for health reasons".

Ponce Díaz has insisted that "from the socialist municipal group and, also, from the municipal groups of Ciudadanos, Izquierda Unida Verdes and Vox, we understand that the betting shops have to be closed for health reasons: they are opaque spaces, with little ventilation and with interaction between customers and, in addition, in some of them the restrictions are being breached in a systematic way, so much so that only in the last week the Local Police have had to intervene in several of them for failing to comply with sanitary regulations ".
The Councilor for Health has added that "the Popular Party is putting the health of Lorca and Lorca and all citizens of the Region of Murcia at risk, a risk that could be avoided if the Regional Government closed this type of locals attending to the request that we will continue to defend from the Municipal Socialist Group.
" José Ángel Ponce has shown that "when the PP is going to promise aid to the hoteliers, they will also have to explain to them the serious differences they are experiencing in their treatment, since it is incomprehensible that during last November, when the health situation was much better than the current one, the Regional Government applied the same restrictions to gambling halls and gambling establishments as to the hotel industry and, now, it keeps them open and closes the hotel business.
