The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, chaired today the meeting of the Campus Consortium Lorca, which reported that higher education will begin in the 2010-2011 academic year, offering 60 seats in the degree of Nutrition and Dietetics and 70 in nursing.
These two titles must be added the Master of Social Economy of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, with a maximum bid of 20 seats.
These two degrees from the University of Murcia are currently being verified by the National Assessment and Accreditation (ANEC) to be ratified by the College Board, the previous steps for the favorable report of the Inter-University Council Murcia and final approval by the regional executive.
As for the Masters, and has a positive evaluation of ANEC and the University Council, all that remains its passage by the Interuniversity Council and the Governing Council.
Marin said that "UPCT UMU and have done a great job to present these studies in a timely manner for evaluation. In the case of the master, and has the verification and approval of the grades is a matter of a month given the 'jam' has been produced nationally by the adjustment of titles to the European Higher Education Area. It will be right here on the campus of Lorca, where we celebrate the Interuniversity Council prior to final approval of the seats by the regional government " .
Also at the meeting was informed of timeliness in delivery and equipping of educational facilities to start university in late September and early October this year.
"It's a joy to hold this meeting in a building on campus, which is already a reality, which is good news for everyone. The deadlines are being met and forecasts as well, so we have to congratulate everyone," said Marin at the beginning of the Council.
Another point addressed in the agenda was the negotiation between the region and the municipality of Lorca for the transfer of land adjacent to the campus and the building of the local police headquarters for further expansion of university facilities in the coming years and ensure its future development.
In addition, the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research is working with the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration and other entities for possible implementation in the medium and long term nursing home residents and other infrastructure that contribute to the expansion and better training of students, as well as its important social value.
Finally, Marin reported on the work of the UMU and UPCT, in collaboration with the regional government for the creation of the International Campus of Mare Nostrum, which includes the Campus of Lorca as a value-added.
