The full Consortium of the University Campus of Lorca, chaired by the Minister of Education and Universities, Maria Isabel Sanchez-Mora, today approved the agreement to establish the basis for the creation of a center for training and research in geriatric field of elderly Lorca campus.

The Poncemar Foundation will be responsible for financing the construction of the center and manage it, while the University of Murcia will be dedicated to the organization of practices and research.

Features and funding
The center is projected on a plot of dotacional nature with a planned floor area of ​​1,500 meters and independent access road inside the campus grounds.
The property will occupy a floor area of ​​400 square meters and will be distributed on two floors, without prejudice to future enlargements.
The ground floor is devoted to the Day Centre, with a capacity for approximately 20 users and upstairs to locate research facilities and training.
The funding will be borne by the Poncemar Foundation, which will provide 600,000 euros initially.
For its part, the Campus Consortium will provide 150,000 euros in five years and the city of Lorca 50,000 euros in the same time.
The Poncemar Foundation will be responsible for any budgetary slippage to occur.
