To mark the fifth anniversary of the earthquake, the Governing Council will meet in Lorca to "take stock of the actions taken and what remains to be done"
The president of the Community, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, said today that the city of Lorca "has managed to overcome and rise" but he added, "there is still a long way to go and we will do together," referring to the works of reconstruction of the city that are being undertaken in those areas that were affected by earthquakes in May 2011.
Pedro Antonio Sanchez and the Minister of Development in office, Ana Pastor, today oversaw the work being done in the district of San Fernando, an area where they had to be demolished all housing blocks (a total of 9 buildings) as a result earthquakes, affecting 232 families.
"Things are moving but we'd all like to do so more quickly," added the president.
During the conducted visit by the minister Ana Pastor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez said that, to mark the fifth anniversary of the earthquake, the Governing Council will meet in Lorca, where there will be a "balance to detail of everything that has been done and what remains to be done "and as a form of" institutional support to the city. "
The president of the Community stressed the commitment and effort made by the three governments for the reconstruction of the city and said that "the regional government is committed to Lorca".
"Rebuilding the city is an absolute priority for the Government of the Region, which is reflected in the budget this year and in our decisions to continue supporting projects that impact Lorca" he said.
After monitoring the status of works in the district of San Fernando, the regional chief executive and the minister they moved to the Palacio de Guevara, one of the most significant buildings of civil baroque in Lorca, declared of Cultural Interest, which also suffered significant damage by earthquakes.
This building has made a comprehensive rehabilitation.
