The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, recently signed with the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, an agreement amounting to 239,198 euros to keep Early Care service for children in the municipality with problems in their development.
The Center for Child Development and Early Care Lorca is a public institution whose ownership holds the City Council and its scope covers Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras.
It consists of an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, educational psychologists, pedagogues, speech therapists and physiotherapists.
Among the services it provides, highlights the screening and diagnosis, overall stimulation, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, speech therapy, psychology, psychomotor, and information and family counseling.
The Community earmarked 4.5 million euros to EI in the Region of Murcia, which allows to provide stimulation to 3,700 children with development disorders or risk of suffering as well as care for their families.
Thomas Violante said the Early Warning "maximizes the capabilities of the child taking into account a whole. One of the advantages is that it is carried out when there is a greater plasticity of the central nervous system during the first years of life."
The main objective, therefore, is to strengthen the autonomy and independence of the child, through the stimulation of the development areas (motor, cognitive and affective).
The decisive influence that early intervention in the development of minors has made pasasen programs being directed exclusively to children with difficulties or shortcomings in their development, generalized to those at risk of maturational problems.
The early care professionals give strategies to establish an adequate bond between mother and baby, something basic and important.
"Through early intervention services not only involved but also prevented. Users of early care center of Lorca are less therapeutic, temporary or permanent needs arising from limitations, changes in development or at risk of suffering.
They can also benefit from these services their families, who guidance, training and the necessary support is provided to adequately address the family and social situation of the child.
