Lorca shows his Jewish heritage treasure at the Palace of the Counts of Santa Ana de Lucena (05/09/2016)

"Traces of Jewish Culture in Lorca" diffuses the most prominent elements found in the Hebrew legacy lorquino fortified castle, including a district of offices and a synagogue outstanding significance and characteristics.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, next to the mayor of Lucena, Juan Perez, inaugurated this morning the exhibition "Traces of Jewish Culture in Lorca", which can be seen today in the Palace of the Counts of Santa Ana, located in this Cordovan city.

The event was also attended by First Deputy Mayor Lorca, Francisco Montiel, Councillor of Tourism Lucena, Manuel Lara and the Deputy Mayor of Presidency, Maria Teresa Alonso.

The mayor has said that the promotion work being developed by the City of Lorca since able to value the discoveries made on the side of the castle concerning the Jewish quarter of castellar and the Synagogue is proving special significance and useful for our city sounds hard within the Jewish panorama at national and international level.

We are talking about a work that is already bearing fruit and that responsibility and commitment to Lorca, we must continue to carry to term, since the economic diversification of our municipality, which helps to define a stronger Lorca and more opportunities for all, it depends heavily on this work.

Jodar Alonso said that Lorca is a pleasure for display in this exhibition Lucena, a city with which we share the Jewish legacy and also the condition of medieval city of three cultures.

With this exhibition commemorating until next October 24 the XVII European Day of Jewish Culture, in which Lorca participated invited by the "Jewish Network" group to which we aspire to belong to the generous and sincere cooperation of the City of Lucena .

The Mayor explained that the result of the collaborative relationship and commitment between Lorca and Lucena, both cities will share a cultural and tourist exchange that began with the opening of the exhibition and will have its second meeting on October 1, when he will attend Lorca Chamber Choir Eli Hoshanah "Lucena City", which will offer a concert at the lorquina Synagogue.

Francisco Jodar has indicated that Lorca is deeply proud of his Jewish heritage findings and works hard to promote it.

To this end, it launched the exhibition "Traces of Jewish Culture" which in recent years has been present in the Sephardic Museum of Toledo, in the Royal Botanic Garden of Cordoba and the Auditorium San Francisco de Avila.

In the overall calculation of the three cities, "Traces of Jewish Culture in Lorca" received more than 70,000 visits, which describes the impact accurate sample and represents an important channel for disseminating our cultural and tourism.

Since then and to date, the sample was installed in the lorquina Synagogue, where visitors could interpret the great Jewish legacy of Lorca.
