On Thursday the old area that houses the Fair Day will be partially restricted access to cars between 11 and 20 h.
It is a joint effort of multiple departments of the City Council to raise awareness of sustainable mobility.
Urban Mobility Councillor in the City of Lorca, Satur Martinez reported that the municipality will add to the celebration of World Day Without Cars keeping the vehicle free historic center.
This is an initiative that has the support of the departments of Transportation, Public Safety, Culture and Mobility.
It is recalled that the European Commission since 2000 pushes the celebration of the European Mobility Week (SEM), which includes the Car Free Day.
Satur Martinez explained that this initiative aims to raise awareness, both on the negative consequences of the irrational use of cars in urban areas, both for public health and the environment, policy makers and citizens and benefits use of more sustainable modes of transport such as public transport, cycling and walking.
The Councillor for Mobility has asked users of vehicles not access the historic center between 11 and 20 hours Thursday.
To facilitate access to the historic center and the Fair Day at that time there will be a free public transport.
From 11 to 13 hours the service will be provided by regular bus lines and between 13 and 19 hours the service will be provided by the train that will make your tour of the city.
Car access will be partially restricted in Floridablanca crossings with Lope Gisbert and Avenida Juan Carlos I, Musso Valiente Juan Carlos I and the crossing of Musso Valiente with Lope Gisbert.

Free guarded bicycle parking in the Huerto de la Rueda and San Vicente during the Fair
Satur Martinez has also stressed that the city of Lorca and LIMUSA have reached an agreement to facilitate access by bike to the Fair Large and Day. So, from Tuesday 20 to Sunday 25 September, both parking San Vicente audience like the wheel, will have specially equipped bicycle parking spaces, for free, and under the supervision of those responsible for parking.
