The Peñarrubia Lorca Trail, organized by the Department of Sports City of Lorca and the Mountaineering Federation of Murcia, celebrated Sunday its fifth edition consolidated as one of the most attractive mountain tests throughout the national territory.
The numbers speak for themselves: in its first edition 40 riders took part;
participated in this fifth almost 350. And the journey through the Sierra de la Peñarrubia offers a unique natural environment and at the same time, a challenge for athletes coming from all points of Spain.
It also has a united purpose, since the inscriptions are for the Association of Parents of Early Childhood Center Lorca (APAT) so they can continue the great work they do on behalf of children.
Just after 8 am runners began collecting their numbers at the College of Hita Perez, both one and another category.
And to remember that could compete in two ways.
On the one hand the Short Trail, 12'3 kilómteros and with a positive slope of 700 meters.
On the other hand, the challenge of Long Trail of 24.2 kilometers and with a positive slope of 1,600 meters.
At 9 am departure in the Rambla de Demoiselles he occurred.
Runners Trail Short had to walk the Rambla del Pino, the Mirador del Valle, the Sendas Hunter and The Canalica, Las Vinas, the Escarambrujo, the Salic, the Path of Cejo and Pylons to return to the Mirador del Valle, Rambla del Pino and return to Les Demoiselles.
Raul Lorca and Isabel Maria Marin prevailed overall in this race, with a time of 1:10:43 and 1:37:33 respectively.
Long Trail participants, after performing the first 3 kilometers along the same route that the cuts, taking from the Path of the Hunter Peñarrubia track to climb to the apex geodéisco.
From there to the Ethiopian Senda, Los Colorados, the Rambla del Cambron, vaguada Cejo and Quintilla, Ecuador travel.
The following kilometers covered The Ramblica, Fuente del Hilo, forest track Peñarrubia, the Sendas Fox, Hunter and The Canalica, Las Vinas, the Escarambrujo, Las Salicas and Cejo, to start back to goal through the pylons, the Mirador del Valle and the Rambla del Pino until Demoiselles.
It was therefore a demanding but at the same time full of attractions for tour participants.
Absolute victory in male category went to Francisco Jose Diaz Pozo with a time of 2:23:03.
Veronica Bugliot was the winner in the female category with a time of 3:06:18.
The day ended with a convivial meal with which runners and volunteers APAT celebrated the success of this test as solidarity.
