EIB investments in Lorca are not being adequate, we know the conditions of the loan and why are so many things unrepaired caused by the earthquake, while these funds are undertaken with new works that have nothing to do with earthquakes
Flanked by two councilmen of IU-V, Pedro Sosa and Worship Peñas, the MEP Group of the European United Left, Marina Albiol, it has moved today to our city, at the request of the local branch of IU to carry institutions European two extremes related to European funds that have to do with the city of Lorca and councilors who have been working coalition.
After a brief presentation of the deputy by the councilors and an introduction to the issues that they bring to the city of Lorca, Marina Albiol has said that next week recorded a couple of parliamentary initiatives on Lorca and European funds.
The first addressed to the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) to report on the loan of 185 million euros of which is beneficiary to the city of Lorca, that economic clauses incorporated, what conditions must be met investments that run with that important amount of money and why its implementation in Lorca was carried back to society Lorca, their neighbors and their representative institutions.
Marina Albiol has referred to two important works executed today with these funds: the central round and the auditorium, showing a side its surprise on the financing of two new works that have nothing to do with the earthquake of 2011, and secondly it surprises that a significant portion of that money has not been invested in the rehabilitation of the historic area of the city, which suffered deeply with earthquakes.
Precisely the historical heart of Lorca and the fact that its reconstruction, requested by the consistory Lorca, has been left out of the financing funds EDUSI (Strategy for Sustainable Urban Development and Integrated) versus other selected interventions in the region as the project of La Manga, is the subject of the second of the initiatives.
Marina Albiol argues that at the beginning of this week will write to the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, demanding all possible explanations on points which have decided that a project like putting boardwalks in La Manga which are very far from contributing to the environmental recovery of this important space, has priority over the projects like the rehabilitation of historic equally defensible set of Lorca or other submitted by more than a dozen municipalities in Murcia.
