During today will be placed in the parking spaces for disabled 20 vinyls with the form of comic snack with the phrase "It is not a VIP zone, it is a necessity".
Tomorrow, World Day of Persons with Disabilities, a "Walk with the Disability" will be developed that will cover the main streets and monuments of the historic center
The Councilors of Citizen Security and Urban Mobility of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez and Satur Martínez, respectively, along with the president of the Association of Physically Disabled Lorca (ASDIFILOR), José Luís Llamas, presented this morning the awareness campaign with Which the municipality is going to commemorate World Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated on December 3.
Belén Pérez explained that "20 vinyls will be placed in the form of a comic snack with the phrase" It is not a VIP zone, it is a necessity ", slogan of the campaign of this year. These cartoons will stick to the ground, next to The international parking sign for parking spaces for people with reduced mobility that are spread throughout the city. The purpose of this action is to raise awareness of the use of disabled parking spaces for those who are not disabled.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, in this regard, said that "to raise awareness of this problem is going to make this morning a symbolic representation in which the crane takes a car that is badly parked in a parking space for people with mobility , Since a vehicle driven by a disabled person can not park in this place because it is occupied. The car owner badly parked, seeing the crane coming, says that "it has only been 2 minutes", while the person with reduced mobility points out that "Mine is not a luxury is a necessity." This is intended to represent and give visibility to a common problem, and is that from the City and ASDIFILOR we want drivers to put themselves in the shoes of a person with reduced mobility and Realize that what for anyone supposes to stop only a moment, for the ones to which these places are destined is a great prejudice. "
Pérez has reported that "this initiative completes other actions launched by the Lorca Consistory as is the section on the municipal website www.lorca.es in which you can check the location of parking spaces for disabled. In fact, In the last year and due to the works of renovation of many neighborhoods of the city has increased the number of this type of places, going from 163 to 181, far surpassing the recommendations of the European Union regulations that indicates that by Every 50 parking spaces must have one for the handicapped. In addition, people with reduced mobility can use free parking spaces reserved for residents unlimited and for two hours the blue zone regulated by the ordinance of ORA.
For its part, the Council of Urban Mobility and Oenegés together with ASDIFILOR will develop on Saturday December 3 the initiative "Walk with Disability" in which a tour of the historic center of the city will be made, accessing different points of Tourist interest of the city.
This activity aims to assess the degree of accessibility of each of these points, identifying environmental barriers.
The tour will start at 10:30 am in Plaza de España and the tour will be: Tourist Office, Cava Street, San Antonio Porch, Medieval Wall, Visitor Center, visit to the Archeological Museum, Lope Gisbert, visit to the Regional Craft Center And, finally, Plaza de Colón where they will proceed to the reading of a manifesto for the World Day of the Disability.
The aim of these initiatives to be developed in the city is to draw attention and contribute to raising awareness and mobilizing support for inclusion and social awareness towards people with disabilities.
From the City Council we firmly believe in the full and equal participation of these people in all municipal areas, that is why we support activities such as those planned for this year.
We are talking about a day marked in the calendar, but from the Lorca Consistory we work side by side throughout the year with the associative fabric to develop and implement such actions that are included in the social agenda.
