Last April, the Edil de Cultura and also Youth Ministry said "to be finalizing" the preparations to open two municipal study rooms in a 24-hour schedule.
Eight months later, nothing more has been known, while the students of Lorca continue to demand this much-needed service
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has once again echoed the discomfort among Lorca students, once they know the opening hours of study rooms planned for the Christmas weeks that, once again, Does not meet the demands and needs of this group.
On this occasion, and due to the coincidence with public holidays, the municipal libraries and study rooms will be closed for three consecutive weekends, specifically the last of December and the first two of January 2017.
The Edil socialist recalled that these dates are of vital importance for students, especially those who study university, given the call for examinations in the month of January.
In addition, he insists on the importance of the municipal service of study rooms especially during the summer, when the vast majority of university students studying outside the municipality return to Lorca hoping to have these municipal rooms.
In this sense, Mazuecos assures that the null response by the Department of Education, which nevertheless once again demand the hiring of staff with which to be able to offer an uninterrupted service of study rooms throughout the year, from the PSOE claim to the Edil de Cultura the fulfillment of his word, remembering that in April 2016 assured "to be finalizing" the preparations to "open in a 24-hour schedule two municipal study rooms, one located in the School of Plastic Arts, Sutullena, and another in the former headquarters of the Local Police, in the Armed Forces. "
From the Municipal Socialist Group they assure that they do not know what the Edil de Cultura y de Juventud understands by "being finalizing".
In this sense, the Socialist mayor insists on not knowing what is due to this serious delay and, in short, this lack of fulfillment of the promised, once insists "the commitment that showed in the plenary when we asked for the opening of these rooms Of study we found firm ".
Mazuecos attributes this behavior of lack of concern, perhaps to the "little attachment" that the Councilor of Culture also demonstrates to his responsibility as Councilman of Youth, because "if he really knew the importance of this service for the students and Lorca They claim, the response would have been immediate, instead of being finally a promise.
