Accounts for next year include an increase in subsidies to groups |
The Municipal Plenum has approved this morning the budget of the City of Lorca for the year 2017 amounting to 73,697,595 euros.
The same has had votes in favor of the Municipal People's Party, while PSOE, IU and Citizens have voted against.
The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, stressed that "this is the budget for economic growth, the net result of the same experience an increase, so we are talking about accounts that will boost the growth of the municipality. The subsidy items, as well as the allocations to the different areas of government, but at the same time, the municipal debt will be reduced, so that we continue to move towards the goal of eliminating the debt of the City Council, which when I acceded to the Mayor's Office, amounted to 105 millions of euros".
The accounts of the Consistory for 2017 comply with the principle of budgetary stability and include a surplus of 500,000 euros to deepen the economic recovery of the City.
The municipal budget focuses on social care.
In this sense, the economic allocation for the Department of Social Services amounts to 27.46%.
All the economic items destined for municipal management are: for example, 32.86% for Education, 33.3% for road maintenance, 10.16% for Sports, 36.84% for Tourism, 79% for Citizen Participation and 14.11% in Employment.
On the other hand, the municipal debt will be reduced by 8 million euros, which by the end of 2017 will amount to 39 million euros, having been reduced since 2007 by 66 million euros.
Financial expenses are reduced by 53% due to the completion of bank loans and the free disposal of policies.
Also noteworthy is the increase of 530,000 euros in direct contributions from the Municipal Administration to social, neighborhood, cultural and Oenegés groups.

This measure is achieved through the completion of bank loans and the free disposal of policies, which are covered.
Similarly, the municipal accounts include the 8% reduction of the Property Tax (IBI), which will save Lorca 1.4 million euros.
The origin of the municipal revenues derives from the contribution of 21.8 million euros from the Government of Spain, 5 million from the CARM and 46.9 from own funds, which underlines the progressive self-financing capacity of the Local Administration .
The budget, divided by areas of government, is configured as follows:
