The works of urban remodeling of the public spaces of the surroundings of the fairgrounds of the neighborhood of Santa Quiteria and the Virgin of the Huertas have left this week to tender in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM), with a budget of more than 1.3 million euros and an execution period of eight months.
The action, financed by the Autonomous Community from the loan it has contracted with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and implemented by the City of Lorca, will consist of the complete renovation of the neighborhood, both furniture and services, to give A better service to residents.
This remodeling aims to turn the neighborhood into a modern space that, with the construction of the fairground, will increase the commercial and business activity of the city, since it is expected that the new pavilion will host animal exhibitions during the livestock, industrial and (Sepor) and the International Horse Fair (Fericab), as well as crafts in Feramur, among other samples and new activities to be promoted.
Among the works, the widening, extension and opening of the Pintor Salvador Zamora street will be highlighted, which will allow to join the Horno and Santa Quiteria streets, thus improving the pedestrian mobility of the neighbors and the traffic.
In addition, it will proceed to widen and increase the space for pedestrians in the aforementioned Horno and Santa Quiteria streets, and to remodel the square of the Tocinos Bridge, where it gives the main façade of the new fair building.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructures, Pedro Rivera, and the mayor of the municipality, Francisco Jodar, presented to the neighbors the construction projects of the livestock ship of the new Lorca Fair Institution and the urban remodeling of the adjacent streets.
The neighbors of the neighborhood have participated actively in the definition of the project through the information meetings that have been maintained by the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure and the City.
