It will take place next Saturday February 4 in the Park of the Scenic Arts, located in front of the new headquarters of the police station of the National Police.
It is an initiative open to the participation of all citizens.
The Councilors of Health and Parks and Gardens, María del Carmen Ruiz and Lali Ibarra, together with the President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), Magdalena López, presented the solidarity initiative called "Tree of Life", which Will develop in our town next Saturday, February 4 at 12:00 noon, day in which marks the World Day against Cancer, having as enclave the Park of the Scenic Arts, located in the new area of ​​development Urban area of ​​the Camino Marín, in particular in front of the headquarters of the police station of the National Police.
We are talking about an act that is carried out jointly between the local group of the AECC and the City of Lorca itself, aiming to serve as a reminder of all the people who at some point have been affected by cancer disease.
The initiative will consist in the planting of the so-called "Tree of Life".
It is a metaphor that represents the force of hope and the triumph of existence, a path in which some leaves fall, but the tree is still alive and new leaves are born to carry on.
Within the same event, a hundred of rose trees sponsored by people, families or entities that wish to collaborate with the initiative will be planted, making a small donation whose amount will be donated in full to collaborate in cancer research.
These "godparents" will have the possibility of writing on a paper a small message, memory or request, which will be burned, taking advantage of the ash as an organic contribution during the process of planting the roses and the tree.
From the City Hall of Lorca, who has donated the rose bushes and the tree to be planted, and the local AECC organization encourages all Lorca to participate in the initiative, especially presidents and members of the broad associative fabric of the municipality and Oenegés .
It has been organized for the celebration of the Municipal Day Against Cancer, in addition, the discovery of a plaque as a symbol of recognition and emblem of remembrance of all people affected by this disease.
