The Regional Air Quality Monitoring Commission is expected to meet during this first quarter of 2017

The Director General of Environmental Quality and Evaluation, Encarna Molina, yesterday highlighted the downward evolution of objective ozone values ​​in the municipality of Lorca, on the occasion of the ordinary session of the Municipal Council for Environment and Sustainability convened by The City of Lorca, where he presented the data on air quality that will be validated in the first quarter of 2017.

Molina explained that in terms of the ozone objective value (a parameter that was exceeded in the preparation of the Regional Air Quality Improvement Plan 2016-2018), there has been a positive evolution of the data, going from 126 exceedances of said Average value for the triennium 2010-2012, 107 for the triennium 2011-2013, 65 for the 2012-2014 triennium, 35 for the next 2013-2015 and 19 for the last calculated average value to be validated for the triennium 2014- 2016.

However, he said, "we have to continue working because, although the triennial average has had a positive evolution, the data for 2016, with 32 surpasses of the target value, can lead to further exceedances of the average value in future triennia" .

In this regard, he stressed the implementation of the measures of the Regional Air Quality Improvement Plan for 2017, in order to ensure that the average value of the target value is maintained for less than 25 days, both for health protection and Of vegetation in the next three years.

The Director General recalled that one of the main measures of this Regional Air Quality Improvement Plan is the constitution of the Regional Air Quality Monitoring Commission, "where the data recorded in the six zones in the Which divides the Region of Murcia, as well as the measures implemented and the effectiveness thereof. "

Once the representatives of the more than one hundred organizations, administrations and institutions consulted have been appointed, the Order of the Ministry is being prepared, which will be set up for this Committee, which is scheduled to meet for the first time in this first quarter of 2017.
