Antonio Mecca has submitted a letter addressed to the Mayor, requesting that the work of the hanging of the skirts of the tribunes of Holy Week, made by the cofradías.
In recent years the City has spent more than 13,000 euros in these jobs and the mayor asks that this money also planned for 2017 be delivered as a subsidy to the cofradías and be the ones who are in charge of managing those jobs, seeking the best use Of public resources.
The council explains the reasons: "Until now the government team has hand-commissioned a friendly company without asking for three budgets and paying an approximate cost of 400%, four times its market value, which would be around 3,000 euros.
We intend to avoid this outrageous overdraft, and instead of the money can end up in the pockets of the "eight surnames of Lorca", invest in the cofradias themselves, in need of support to keep their museums, embroiderers, etc., for the aggrandizement of our Easter".
