This service was launched by Fundown and its purpose is the achievement of equal opportunities, non-discrimination and universal accessibility for people with disabilities through the development of an Independent Living Project, which favors through the learning of personal skills And professional competencies.
The counselor said that "the intention is to promote this service, in a way complementary to other measures, such as the social and employment integration of these people."
The regional government will allocate more than 84 million euros this year to the care of people with disabilities, an increase of more than 4 million euros over the previous year.
In 2017, the budget increase will allow the consolidation of the new places created in residences, day centers, sheltered apartments and other services (309 for people with disabilities), as well as the increase in the number of places according to the existing needs.
At present there are 3,960 places for people with disabilities.
Training in the educational centers of Lorca
The Community collaborates with this association through the agreement signed with the Ministry of Education and Universities for educational intervention with children with Down syndrome and other associated intellectual disabilities in public and private educational centers arranged in Lorca and its region.
This educational intervention program is being developed in schools, with prior authorization from the center and affected families.
The actions contemplated in the educational intervention program are carried out during the established school hours.
The professionals designated by Down Lorca develop the educational intervention program entering the ordinary classroom of the school, where the students are the object of intervention and without impairing the functions that correspond to the professionals of the educational centers.
