The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, together with CARM Sports Councilor Noelia Arroyo, have informed that the International Beach Volleyball Center will host the final phase of the Beach Volleyball Championship of the School Sport Program that is being held Regional level.
For young people who practice this sport in Murcia is a special incentive to compete in the great international reference for this sport and enjoy its excellent facilities.
The First Edil thanked the Autonomous Community for its commitment to subsidize with 500,000 euros the expansion of the International Beach Volleyball Center.
So many successes has accumulated since its opening that enlargement is fundamental to be able to aspire to new challenges and major challenges.
The CIVP has to consolidate in the next years in the role of epicenter of national and international beach volleyball, welcoming the best athletes and organizing the most prestigious tournaments.
But for this it is necessary the expansion of its facilities that will be possible thanks to the support of our Regional Government.
Jódar Alonso has anticipated that the residence, which currently has 66 seats will increase its capacity more than double, allowing the Center to host major tournaments that, in addition to focusing on sports in Lorca, will allow multiplying visitors in the municipality with the Consequent increase of overnight stays and hotel services in the City of the Sun. We will continue consolidating our municipality as a city of sport, objective that we achieve through a large map of facilities dedicated to the physical activity that have the International Center of Volleyball Beach as icing on the cake.
The First Edil has emphasized that the International Center of Voley is surpassing of positive form the established previsions.
This infrastructure, which did not cost Lorca euros, has become the great world center of Beach Volleyball.
Remember that only in 2016 has hosted 5 selections that competed in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Also volleyball selections and sportsmen from other disciplines and modalities have made use of the facilities.
It should be remembered that from its opening it has hosted tournaments of the prestige of the Continental Cup, Spanish Championships of different modalities and ages or of autonomic selections, CIVP tournament, CESA, etc.
The training has also been a constant since this Center, because there have been days dedicated to supervision of sportsmen, seminars of referees and recuperators, high-performance days, coaching courses, university monographs, campuses, courses or training sessions.
In addition, the relationship with the local sport is established through the section of Eliocroca that so good benefits from these facilities in their training.
We must mention that it is the headquarters of the Spanish team of Beach Volleyball and that houses the national program of permanent concentration for young people who reside and are formed in the CIVP, and currently 8 beneficiaries of it.
The International Beach Volleyball Center, through the tournaments, competitions and activities it celebrates, generates 3,000 annual nights in Lorca, according to data from the Spanish Volleyball Federation.
Especially during the summer months, when more events take place, which has impacted on the deseasonalization of tourism and an important boost for the hotel sector.
These new actions will have an impact on the dynamization of this space and the activities carried out, thanks to the firm commitment of the Autonomous Community.
