The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment has completed the construction of collectors in the area of Los Palacios in Lorca, which will allow about 1,000 inhabitants of the orchard to have a system of sewage and wastewater collection that connects the water with Purification facilities.
The director general of Water, Andrés Martínez, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, today inaugurated the works, accompanied by technicians and neighbors of the area.
6.2 kilometers of pipelines have been installed and has meant an investment of around 1.7 million euros.
With these actions, residents of Los Palacios have a new network of collectors that collects wastewater from the area south of the town center to the La Hoya WWTP.
The works have consisted in the construction of the collector of Los Palacios, which, starting from the area called Casa Palacio and until its connection with the Rambla de Biznaga Collector, collects the residual waters of the area and those of nearby enclaves such as Casa de Mula, La Torre and El Charco, Casas Nuevas and Gallardo, among others, which currently lack sanitation infrastructures.
The works consisted of a manifold consisting of an outlet pipe with a diameter of 400 millimeters in piping, which flows into the manifold that runs along the left bank of the Rambla de Biznaga.
These actions are part of the objectives of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment in the II General Plan for Sanitation and Treatment of the Region of Murcia 2015-2020, which seeks to incorporate all urban centers to the region's purification system .
The investment made will allow the increase of the volume of regenerated water made available to the irrigation of the community of irrigators of Lorca, increasing even more the reuse rates of purified water existing in the Region.
