The Plenary of the City of Lorca has given the green light this morning to the proposal of the Socialist Party to demand from the Government of Spain a schedule of actions that involve the comprehensive modernization of the railway line that runs between Murcia, Lorca and Aguilas.

The socialists thus manage to take the first step to offer a real solution to a historic claim to the citizenship of Lorca.

In fact, they remember that the improvement of the service of Cercanías was one of the main challenges contemplated in the program of government with which the PSOE concurred to the last municipal elections.

The councilor of the Municipal Socialist Group, David Romera thanked the rest of political groups with representation in the City of Lorca the degree of consensus reached on the motion of the Socialist Party, with which they propose the improvement and enhancement of the Cercanías service between The towns of Murcia, Lorca and Aguilas, through what in their opinion, deserve to be "a renewed and expanded infrastructure, to end the serious shortcomings that have endured this service for years."

After a wide debate between the different municipal groups, the Socialist Group has managed to gather the consensus of all parties with municipal representation, so that the City of Lorca, in collaboration with the regional government, is set as the target for the next few months to claim Before the Government of Spain a battery of measures, through a schedule of actions, to dignify the service of Cercanías that, says, suffer the Lorca users daily, and thus achieve the necessary improvement that enhances the competitiveness of this rail transport " .

Specifically, and for the first time thanks to this motion of the PSOE, the City of Lorca will ask the State to replace the outdated convoys that, remember, supports this line since they arrived in Lorca in 1982, more than 35 years ago .

They will also demand better security and electrification systems on the line, once the execution of the Murcia-Lorca-Almería High Speed ​​Line has been completed.

The restructuring of schedules and frequencies, and the improvement of the direct rail connectivity between Lorca and other important cities of the regional environment have also been other problems addressed by this motion presented by the PSOE, and for which they have also obtained unanimous support To demand that they be solved.
