The Councilor for the Environment of the City of Lorca, Satur Martínez, has reported that the Lorca Calnegre Cala has achieved by its continuous commitment to improving its quality the renewal of the Ecoplayas Flag that already obtained in the past editions of 2013 and 2015 , A sign awarded by the Technical Association for Waste Management, Urban Cleaning and Environment (Ategrus).
The candidacy was presented by the Department of Urbanism and Environment of the City of Lorca in the framework of the XI Edition of the Banner Ecoplayas 2016 Awards.
Satur Martínez explained that "this award is a recognition to the municipality for its work on the quality of its beaches from the environmental, tourism and sustainability point of view, with the aim of spreading its efforts, innovations and achievements. The result of the continuous commitment to improving its quality, maintaining the positive aspects of the cove and incorporating improvements and innovations that combine sustainable tourism criteria and respect for nature.
In keeping with positive aspects, the continuous cleaning of the cove, access roads, temporary installation of elements and equipment complying with the requirements of accessibility and elimination of architectural barriers affecting their integration in a sustainable way with materials Which are adapted to the environment, sports activities and other activities designed to raise awareness of the environmental wealth of the Lorca coast, as well as the establishment of a complete rescue and rescue system. It is worth mentioning other actions carried out such as the incorporation of A signage to warn bathers in case water currents are detected, as well as campaigns on recommendations to avoid incidents.
What does Ecoplayas mean?
The award-winning Ecoplayas flag is awarded by the Technical Association for waste management, urban sanitation and the environment (Ategrus).
This award is addressed to all municipalities or supra-municipal entities with beach, both coastal and inland (river beaches, lakes or reservoirs), not necessarily sand or stones (granite, limestone, basaltic), but any type of land-water interface (In concrete, wood, recycled plastic, vegetated earth, textile, etc.).
Given the existence of numerous certifications of different nature that can obtain the beaches, this competition is an attempt to value all these characteristics and award the best beaches and supramunicipal entities of each Spanish region.
Through a strict information and evaluation system, municipalities and supramunicipal entities are distinguished by the quality of their beaches from the environmental, tourism and sustainability points of view, with the aim of spreading their efforts, innovations and achievements.
In this way, the aim is to promote excellence in the design, equipment and maintenance of the great asset that constitutes the Spanish beaches, as well as its tourist development.
