The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martínez Carrasco, announced the convocation of the XXIII Awards for Sport that seek "to recognize organizations, public institutions and private entities that have made a significant contribution to enhance and expand the sport practice of Our city".
The Commission of selection of the prizes will be formed by the Mayor, Councilor of Sports, a representative of each political party with municipal representation, municipal technicians of the Department of Sports, members of the local sports press and for the first time the members of the Sectorial Council Of Physical Activity and Sport, a body of participation where groups such as the Federation of Women's Organizations, the Youth Council, Neighborhood Associations, the Physical Education and Sports Forum, primary and secondary physical education teachers, associations Social, high-performance athletes and sports clubs and associations.
The Edil has indicated that "the natural persons, sports entities, private entities, agencies and local entities of the city that meet the requirements of each modality will be eligible to participate. The results and merits obtained between January 1st and December 31, 2016. The Commission will act based on the proposals made by sports clubs, people and other entities, and the members may propose and collect the necessary information on the candidacies.
Any person or entity may propose candidates until Friday, March 24, using the official model prepared for this purpose.
The Commission may act ex officio to assess the merits of persons or entities.
The list of awards will be made public on Thursday, April 6, while the delivery will take place on Saturday May 6 at the Teatro Guerra in the framework of the Gala del Deporte.
The categories that are established in relation to the merits obtained in 2016 are the following:
Award to the best lorquino sportsman in absolute category by the level reached in his discipline, provided that this level has had relevance in the national scope or superior.
Prize for the best men's and women's team of absolute category, that have transcended the regional scope have had outstanding performances or obtained outstanding positions in national or international competitions.
Best Sportsman Lorquino Promise in Men's Category.
Best Sportsman Lorquina Promise in Women's category.
Best Home Team Men's Promise.
Best Local Team Women's Promise.
Award to the most outstanding Gesta Deportiva.
Prize to the popular sportsman or prize to the sport dedication.
Business award for its Lorquino Sports Support.
Prize to the best promotion and sports diffusion by the Teaching Centers of the Municipality.
Prize to the Club or Better Local entity for its work of promotion, diffusion and management within the sports field.
Prize to the sporting event organized in the Region of Murcia, that by its number of editions, historical trajectory and regional repercussion is considered like reference in the management and organization of sporting events.
It is also contemplated in this epigraph the possibility of rewarding a specific sport event that has been of special relevance in the regional, national or international scope.

The Commission may grant special prizes based on specific facts or circumstances not covered in the previous sections.
They could refer to technical work, research, promotion or other related to the world of Physical Activity and Sport.
