The Mayor of Lorca, Francico Jódar, together with the Director General of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Nuria Fuentes, and Councilor for Works, Eulalia Ibarra, have reported that work has been completed to improve the staircase that gives Access to the Hermitage of San Roque and the surrounding houses.
More than 2,200 residents of the San Pedro neighborhood as well as tourists who visit this environment will benefit from this work that improves accessibility in this high part of the city.
The works have assumed an investment of more than 243,000 euros and include gardening and new led lighting that encourages energy saving.
This is a step further for the integral remodeling of the neighborhood, as now the staircase is now more comfortable and will allow people to access the hermitage, which is the oldest Christian temple in Lorca, or the dwellings surrounding it, Can do it with more security. "In the 1.375m2 on which this work was acted has included the gardening of the area with the installation of five 183m2 parterres, planters and tree barns with the addition of trees, as well as the placement of 16 new luminaires with LED technology, which encourages energy saving, 4 ornamental projectors for lighting the Hermitage and 40 wall lights for the ornamental lighting of stairs.
There have also been 530 linear meters of underground pipeline of PVC pipe 110mm for the installation of public lighting and different rest areas have been made with prefabricated concrete pavement of aged type, with a total of 770 m2.
Likewise, the routes and sections of stairs have been adapted, unifying the height and bottoms of steps, combining in its construction natural stone and metallic profiles covered with technical platform, with a total of 580 ml in stone and 65 ml in technical platform.
At the same time, the walls of concrete have been covered with natural stone veneer, making 310 m2 and have been placed 32 meters of bench made with metallic profiles covered with technical pallet.
To conclude, 131 meters of railings and 103 meters of railings have been placed on walls.
The works have meant an investment of more than 243,000 euros, and have been financed by the agreement that maintains the regional government with the City Council, and that allocates 10 million euros for the regeneration of the upper districts of Lorca.
Reform of 31 streets.
This work is part of the regeneration of the neighborhood of San Pedro, the largest and most populated of the slopes of the castle of Lorca, which contemplates the improvement of 31 streets, of which 23 are already finished.
Work on the streets has meant a total investment by the Autonomous Community of 3 million euros.
