Mateos demands the same treatment for Lorca families, farmers and ranchers who lost everything with the torrential rainstorm of 2012 because it ensures that the aid that these victims received "came very late and were very scarce"
The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has asked that the line of aid recently announced by the regional government of the Autonomous Community, be extended and retroactive to also be eligible for relief to those affected by the flood that struck in September 2012 a good part of the municipality of Lorca as well as the neighboring municipalities of Puerto Lumbreras and Totana.
Mateos recalled that that storm of heavy torrential rains left up to 177 liters per square meter in some areas of Lorca, causing major floods and the most serious, claiming the lives of eight lives.
In terms of material losses, the Socialist leader points out that this catastrophe has caused, in many cases, the loss of all agricultural production, as well as irrigation infrastructures.
In addition, between 8,000 and 10,000 head of swine, sheep, goats and cattle died drowned in the livestock farms of the region.
However, denounces Diego José Mateos that the millionaire losses caused by that 2012 storm in Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras "seems to have been insufficient for the PP governments in both the Autonomous Community and the Government of Spain to allocate the aid that, Just in time, they were destined, he recalls, for those affected by the severe floods caused by, for example, the flooding of the Ebro in 2015, or as now, for those affected by the recent storms in the Region.
As President Sánchez himself has acknowledged, "this type of aid has never been implemented in our region", he insists, "justice is needed to bring relief to those affected by the floods of 2012."
It is a good initiative, acknowledges the mayor, but "for reasons of justice must be extended to the farmers and ranchers of the valley of Guadalentín, who barely received aid."
Mateos denounces that in 2012 the aid that the Governments of Valcárcel and Rajoy allocated to mitigate the serious damages of this natural disaster in Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras "were very scarce and arrived late."
In fact, remember that many families then lost everything and never received a euro in aid to alleviate these consequences.
This is why the socialist responsible accuses the regional and national executive of the Popular Party the "comparative grievance" for those affected Lorca with respect to the victims of other areas of the country or the same Region of Murcia "for whom the treatment and The availability of the Administrations has been very different. "
In this regard, Diego José Mateos appeals to the sensitivity of the current Regional Government, and specifically, the then Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, now President of CARM, Pedro Antonio Sánchez to do justice to those affected by the consequences of the storm Of 2012 in Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, and make it easier for them to avail themselves of these last lines of regional aid.
