The Ministry of Development and Infrastructures has finalized the works of adaptation of the House of the Captain, in the neighborhoods of Los Angeles and Apolonia in Lorca, so that it can be used by the Poncemar Foundation, a non-profit organization that serves elderly people without Resources, for the investigation of the welfare of the elderly.
The director general of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Nuria Fuentes, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, visited this morning the municipal property building, which, after its rehabilitation, has been ceded to the Foundation so that it can locate in This historic building the Chair of Gerontology of the University of Murcia, which Monday will present the Minister of Education and Universities, María Isabel Sánchez-Mora.
Nuria Fuentes stressed "the importance of this property within the neighborhood, which will be aimed at the social purpose of studying and ensuring the well-being of older people, in order to better understand their problems from a biological, psychological and social integration perspective and Economic ".
Improvements have been made through the construction of ramps through the University Park, and the façade has been repaired by applying a special treatment to sanitize cracks and painted the exterior.
In addition, work has been carried out carpentry, fitting the electrical installation and painted all interior spaces.
The works, which involved an investment of 57,000 euros, are part of the urban renewal actions of the Los Angeles and Apolonia districts, already under construction, to which the Community allocates 3.8 million euros, To the loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The purpose of the Poncemar Foundation is to care for, support and assist older people in Lorca.
The chair is linked to the University of Murcia, through the campus of Lorca, and will become a reference space for socio-health research.
Comprehensive renovation of Los Angeles and Apolonia
Comprehensive urban renovation works in Los Angeles and Apolonia continue at a good pace.
