In the last Plenary, the Popular Party voted against the construction of regulation and pressure rafts in the pipeline essential to drive desalinated water from Cerro Colorado to Totana.
Navarro recalls that because of the lack of these rafts, 70% of consolidated irrigation sees water pass in front of their land and can not irrigate due to lack of pressure
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Antonio Navarro has lamented that the Popular Party continue to act against the interests of irrigators and farmers of Lorca.
In the last Plenary, the 13 councilors of the PP voted NOT to require the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture to build the regulation and pressure rafts essential to transport the desalinated water from the Cerro Colorado Balsa to Totana.
At present, and because of the lack of those rafts that the Popular Party refuses to demand from the Ministry, the desalination plant is working at a low yield due to the lack of these necessary rafts.
The proposal to demand from the Ministry of Agriculture the construction of these impulse rafts for the pipeline that leads the desalinated water came through an amendment that the PSOE presented in the last Plenum and that was systematically rejected with the roll of the absolute majority of Popular Party in the City of Lorca.
From the Socialist Group, they consider it "inadmissible and inexplicable" that in the same Plenary, the Popular Party was able to vote in favor of studying the interconnection of the desalination and reservoirs of the Segura Basin, arguing that in this way Use water from the Torrevieja desalination plant, and at the same time, will vote against building these rafts to take advantage of water resources that we should not look for outside because we already have here.
"It is the case that, because of lack of these rafts, many irrigators see the pipe pass through their properties and can not irrigate due to lack of pressure."
Navarro recalls that with the proposal that led to Plenary, from the PSOE sought to ensure that 70% of irrigated land can be served "that now sees water pass through their lands and can not use it for lack of pressure."
In this sense, its proposal was aimed at optimizing the resources we have "putting the desaladora to work at full capacity".
"And all this ensures - without having any cost for the farmers or for the City Council."
