The Minister of Education and Universities, María Isabel Sánchez-Mora, attended today the inauguration of the Chair of Gerontology at the University of Murcia, launched in collaboration with the Poncemar Foundation and the City of Lorca, and is headquartered in University campus of the city, specifically in the newly renovated building of the Captain's House.
Sánchez-Mora stressed that "the chair is born with the vocation to establish a culture of service to aging, which addresses not only care factors, but also the implementation of cross-cutting activities."
It is a Chair addressed to the whole society, which offers its services to students, health professionals, senior citizens and citizens in general.
The Minister stressed that "from now on the Campus of Lorca will offer official university education and vocational training specialized in better understanding the problems of our elders from a biological, psychological, social and economic integration perspective."
In addition, "it becomes a national referent as a research center in the social and health field of older people, as it has a multidisciplinary approach that integrates training, research and health care through the day center for Lorca," said María Isabel Sánchez- Blackberry.
