The Citizens Municipal Group will raise to the ordinary plenary of March a motion that has to do precisely with the commemoration tomorrow March 8 of the International Day of the Rights of Women, established this date since 1975 by the General Assembly of the United Nations .
The Councilor advances the motion: "As has been recently created the Municipal Sectoral Council of Physical Activity and Sport, we believe it convenient to join all the proposals approved to date that have not yet been put together with the initiatives of the collective The Municipal Council for Women, within the framework of the Citizen Participation Regulation, as an organ of participation and whose functioning is similar to the Social Council, providing mainly advice to the Department of Equality in matters and initiatives To promote equality between men and women as a norm of conduct, the full integration of women and the recognition of that equality through their realization in the organizations, their policies and their practices, specific to local governments and Regional ".
Citizens are firmly committed to equality not only as a guarantor of freedom and democracy, but as an attitude that must be promoted and promoted from the public sphere.
Hence the need for this motion, as previous initiatives failed to take place:
Evaluation of the 2007-2011 Equality Plan, which was unanimously approved at the plenary session on 2 May 2007.
Implementation of the Local Table for Equality, constituted on March 13, 2014.
Motion presented by this Municipal Group in November 2016 and unanimously approved where it was agreed to declare the will of the City of Lorca to adhere to the European Charter for Equality of Men and Women in Local Life promoted by the European Union through the Council Of Municipalities and Regions of Europe.
