The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martínez Carrasco, together with the President of the Automobile Club of Lorca, Pedro Zamora, have presented the VI Lorca Highlands Rally to be held during the days of Friday and Saturday in the municipality.
The test, scoring for the Spanish Championship of Earth Rally, has recorded a record of registrations, since 81 teams will participate in a test that is entrenched within the national championship, being one of the tests with more registered last season .
As has happened in all previous editions, the test venue will once again be in Parque Almenara Shopping Center, an idyllic setting to house all the test offices, as well as the assistance tents of the teams that make up the contest.
Among the drivers are the current champion Álex Villanueva, José Antonio Suarez, European and World Championship rider, winner of the Rally Cup in France, Javier Pardo, two-wheel driving champion of Spain, and Manuel Gómez, participant in all editions.
Also noteworthy is the participation of local teams, including Juan Luis Amador, third in the Spanish championship in group N, as well as José Miguel and Marina García, José Carlos Mulero and Carlos Fernández, the latter Team Fernandez on the Dakar, and Antonio Moya, young local promising driver.
As for the calendar, on Friday after 7:30 the participants will be at Parque Almenara Mall, from 9 to 13 hours to recognize the four sections that make up this year's test.
Starting at 14:30 hours the first tests of the vehicles will begin, since at that time will start the shakedown of the test, which will take place this time in the vicinity of the town of Torrealvilla.
To close this first long day, the teams will travel to Plaza Calderón, where the rally departure ceremony will take place this season, returning to its origins starting at 08:45 p.m.
To further soften the night there will be a concert.
On Saturday, March 11, the teams will start the day at 8:00 am with the dispute of the first two specials of the event that will be repeated starting at 10:41.
