Mateos celebrates that the Popular Party rectify and give reason to the PSOE, after rejecting in the Plenary of July the proposal of the Socialist Group to install awnings to mitigate the high temperatures and provide a uniform aesthetic criteria to the main streets of the Historic Center of Lorca

The spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has expressed his satisfaction after knowing the decision to install awnings and shades along the route of the streets of greater pedestrian traffic of the Historic Quarter of Lorca.

This measure has been well received by the Socialist Group for energy saving and the promotion of commercial activity, but they demand that it not be focused "solely and exclusively on the commercial area of ​​Corredera", but that it be extended to other areas "So in need of investments to favor and foment the commercial activity, as much in the rest of the city as in pedanias".

Likewise, after knowing the route announced that will follow the installation of these awnings, Mateos proposes that these shades also cover the upper part of Pio XII street "as an element of more dynamization facing the next opening of the Market of the Sun" .

According to municipal sources, these placed will cover the area of ​​Pio XII Street from its intersection with Corredera street to Lope Gisbert.

The Socialist Spokesman has celebrated the change of stance of the Popular Party regarding the collation of these shadows in the route of the main streets of the historic center of Lorca.

He recalled that it is an initiative that the PSOE requested in the Plenary of July 2016, within its proposals to beautify the city in the face of the celebration of the Day Fair and that, at that time, was directly rejected With the votes of the 13 councilors of the Popular Party.

Mateos reproaches the new loss of time of a Mayor and a government team "rooted in his lack of ideas and determined not to recognize the proposals and initiatives of the PSOE, however positive they may be."

In this sense, he regrets that in this case were the merchants of Lorca who have had to lose almost a year because since July last year the PP had on the table the proposal to make the placement of these awnings in reality The main streets of the Historic Center of the city.

In the wake of this news, and after the last detachment of one of the cornices, which occurred today in a building on Calle Pío XII, Mateos claims that when installing the awnings provided "precautions are taken," given the "obvious State of instability "of many of the facades and their elements, in the old buildings and manor houses of this area of ​​the city.
