The Edil stated that "during the mornings of Wednesday and Thursday, during school hours, 400 students of 5th and 6th Primary Education of various Lorca schools have had the opportunity to talk with the writer Mónica Rodríguez about the books" Words of Caracola "and" The flowers of Irina. "The sessions, which have the collaboration of Editorial SM, have been held in the Hall of Cultural Center.
Mónica Rodríguez was born in Oviedo in 1969. Graduated in Physical Sciences, she arrived in Madrid in 1993 to do a master's degree in Nuclear Energy and from 1994 to 2009 she was working at the Ciemat Research Center.
In October 2009 he abandoned his career to dedicate himself entirely to children's and youth literature.
At the moment it has numerous books published and has received several awards, among them the first prize of Juvenile Novel of the City council of Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), in 2007, by "The roads of Piedelagua", work by which also received the Prize of the Critic of Asturias in Infantile and Juvenile Literature (2007);
Children's Literature Prize City of Málaga, for his work "The Bicycle of Selva" (2010) or the Ala Delta Prize 2011 for "Dandelion".
Also in 2011 he won the Villa de Ibi award for "La última función".
