The Edil de Deportes recalled that the "Run for Lorca" initiative emerged just days after the earthquake of 2011 as a platform to support the city and commemorates the beginning of the recovery process after the tragedy.
In those days, Lorca, friends and relatives from all parts of the Spanish geography, as well as personalities from different areas, traveled to the City of the Sun to publicly show their solidarity and commitment to the municipality and its neighbors.
In fact, this test includes the benefits that define Lorca and have characterized the process experienced by the City of the Sun for the last seven years.
In the "Run for Lorca" there is companionship and joint work, solidarity and altruism, as there is also discipline and constancy, eagerness to overcome challenges, prosperity and improvement, to reach personal or collective challenges.
The same thing that has happened with our city. "
"Today, as time goes by and when we face the last stages of the recovery process, we can affirm with satisfaction that" Run for Lorca "has become a sporting tradition, symbol of the collective and altruistic effort that characterizes Lorca society And the fight that we started six years ago. This event is already part of the positive legacy that remains after the earthquakes, as well as having established itself as an essential competition within the local calendar and popular careers at a regional level, "said Martínez Carrasco.
