The Councilor for Tourism in the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, recalled that the first edition of the cultural event "The Traces of Folklore in the Fortress of the Sun", which was canceled on 29 April due to adverse weather conditions and Forecast of precipitation in the area, will be held on Saturday 13 May at the Castle of Lorca, on the occasion of the International Day of Dance, as planned.
The Edil de Turismo has encouraged the citizens "to spend a wonderful family day together with the little ones of the house, who can take their first steps in learning local customs and traditions. The celebration is composed of passing fingers that include a set of activities and educational didactic whose purpose is to put in value the cultural heritage of our municipality.
The first pass starts at 11:00 and consists of 5 workshops, each lasting approximately 30 minutes: My Folklore, The costume museum, The importance of our embroidery, Traditional games and, finally, Ven to dance.
After the performance of the Children's Group and Choirs and Dances, the audience will gather at the esplanade at 14:30 to start the meal.
A second pass with start time at 15:30 will include the same 5 workshops.
The entrance has a solidarity price of € 5 for those over 4 years of age and in the price is included a plate of rice accompanied by drink, as well as participation and dynamic workshops for children and adults.
The economic collection obtained throughout the day will be destined to the Group of Choirs and Dances of Lorca, organizer of the event in collaboration with "Lorca, Taller del Tiempo".
The group of Choirs and Dances of Lorca was established in 1945 in order to rescue, preserve and disseminate the folklore of the Lorca region and its surroundings through the songs, dances, costumes and traditions inherited from our ancestors.
Today, the group of Choirs and Dances of Lorca, made up of more than 100 people, continues to have a firm and determined commitment to continue this great task of preserving and disseminating this popular heritage, inherited from previous generations and as a goal that does not The rich and varied Spanish folklore was lost.
