The Councilor for this training, Gloria Martín, who will ask for information on the regeneration of this space, included in the remodeling works of Santa Clara Avenue, also calls for the creation of specific areas for the recreation of domestic animals and the establishment of a Agreement with the Community of Irrigators of Lorca to endow the 'Casa Mata' with public use
The Councilor of Left United Greens, Gloria Martín, will ask in the Municipal Plenary of the City of Lorca about the actions that the local Government team plans to develop in the urban stretch of the river Guadalentín.
The councilor of this training recalled that the project to remodel the avenue of Santa Clara, which includes the renovation of this space, is endowed with 2.7 million euros in the budgets of the regional government for 2017. However, the opposition does not know How the project is done or when it is scheduled to be put out to tender.
IU-Verdes is committed to creating a large area dedicated to sport and leisure linked to the environment for the enjoyment of all neighbors.
Therefore, it proposes to the team of municipal government of the PP to enable dirt tracks of volleyball, baseball or soccer, circuits destined to the practice of the running and of an itinerary to carry out trekking.
The Councilor of IU-Greens considered that the regeneration of this space is a good opportunity for the City Council to bet on the cultivation of 'desert gardens', of which there are already samples in some municipalities of the Region.
Designed to save water in areas severely affected by water scarcity, these gardens are nourished by plants that naturally grow in warm, dry climates, such as cactus and succulents, and offer a "spectacular" aesthetic result.
This could be accompanied by the dispersal of seeds of wild species such as everlasting (Limonium insigne or Helicrysum stoechas), poppies, or others.
The important dimensions of this space make it possible for the City Council to also include specific areas for the spreading of domestic animals, necessary to satisfy their physical exercise needs as claimed by animal associations at the local level.
Martín also rescued the old aspiration of his political formation to establish an agreement with the Community of Irrigators of Lorca to grant a public use to the facilities of the Casa Mata and create, thus, a great green zone that integrates the park of The petanque 'of San Diego and the riverbed.
All these actions would serve to revitalize a space that, at present, offers a decadent image.
In addition, they require a "very affordable" economic investment, which means that the City Council would not have to face large losses in the event that the area is again affected by floods or torrential rains.
In any case, and apart from the proposals submitted by IU-Greens, Gloria Martín demanded the PP to open the project to citizen participation.
