The municipal group Citizens is going to present a motion in the ordinary plenary of May concerning the prevention of forest fires.
"Every summer we see how Spain revalidates its sad first position as a European Union country most affected by forest fires. This trend is going to be worse, as shown by data from the Ministry of Environment," reports the Councilman.
According to the State Committee for Forest Fire Coordination, almost 50% are due to negligence (uncontrolled burning included), 30% of the fires are intentional and only 20% are fortuitous.
Antonio Meca explains the reason for this motion "We are concerned that the inhabitants of our municipality are not properly informed about this, since a large part of the rural population is elderly, or in the daily chores of their lives do not have time And / or sufficient means to consult the different rules that must comply, which is why we propose a more active participation of the City Council, by reaching out to its neighbors all relevant information on this and other issues of public interest.
Therefore, the municipal group Citizens proposes that the City Council, in collaboration with the competent Directorates General, undertake to intensify the dissemination of all fire prevention measures, as well as the applicable regulatory regulations, so that they reach the greatest number of inhabitants by means of a Direct intervention in the diffusion and public information, thus obtaining that the fire prevention covers a double force.
