The meeting between the Mayor of Lorca and the Chief of the National Executive took place in the Senate after the end of the control session to the Government.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, held this week a meeting with the President of the Government of Spain, Mariano Rajoy in the premises of the Senate, after finalizing the session of control to the National Executive in which the First Edil of the City of the Sun participated .
Fulgencio Gil expressed his satisfaction for the predisposition manifested by Mariano Rajoy to his invitation to visit Lorca and to verify firsthand the remarkable advances obtained within the process of reconstruction in which our city is immersed.
The President of the National Executive is permanently informed about the state of Lorca and remains fully aware of the demands of the municipality for the coming years.
It is our common goal to complete the commitments acquired by his Executive with Lorca for the full recovery of damages caused by the earthquakes of 2011.
The First Edil has indicated that Rajoy has ratified me that he will continue to be in the city for as long as is necessary and at any cost, since since May 11, 2011 Lorca deserves the affection, solidarity and recognition of all Spanish, and will continue to receive it.
It should be remembered that Lorca's recovery after the earthquakes has a joint financing that covers the investments of all public and private administrations.
Regarding the Government of Spain, in the economic area, has granted exemptions from the IBI payment to those affected by earthquakes during 2012 and 2013 and has subsidized 50% during 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, providing a saving to Lorca Of 72 million euros.
In addition, it has also contributed with the payment of half of the aid of the Joint Commission.
On the other hand, it launched a Reindustrialization Plan and a Housing Plan that became economic, social and recovery tools.
As for the recovery of the historical heritage, it should be noted that the Government of the Nation has participated, within the Master Plan, in the reconstruction of the Tower of the Spur and Walls of Lorca Castle, San Mateo Church, Guevara Palace, Theater War, Virgen de las Huertas Convent, San Antonio Porch, restoration of some of the pieces that make up the Archaeological Museum and the Church of Santa Maria.
Likewise, it has financed the construction of the new Civil Guard Barracks, the new Police Station of the National Police and the integral repair of the Lorca Sutullena Train Station.
As a curiosity, the Mayor stressed that "the President of the Government was interested in the phases of promotion that compete this weekend Lorca football teams."
