The Councilor for Social Services of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, along with the Councilor for Family and Equal Opportunities of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Violante Tomás, visited this morning the summer residence of Asprodes, where they spend their Holidays of persons with disabilities of this Association.
Sandra Martinez said that "Asprodes' summer residence is located in the former Guardia Civil de Aguilas, located in Calabardina, in a place close to the beach and in the middle of the mountains. It has a total of 41 squares, tracks Sports, swimming pool, lounge, dining room, laundry, and ample recreation and recreation areas.
The Councilor for Social Services, in this regard, stated that "after several years working with users, observing and detecting their needs and concerns, Asprodes officials saw that, in addition to offering them an occupational center, it was necessary to create A center of leisure and rest, in which especially those users who lacked family and who lived in the center 365 days a year had the possibility of enjoying in a different environment to the one that welcomed them daily.
Martínez recalled that "apart from the summer residence, this Association has three other magnificent facilities in the municipality of Lorca, known as" Casa Madre ", which was remodeled last year, and" Casa de la Luz " Both located in Altobordo, a hamlet of Purias, to which is added the one built in the old convent of the Siervas, in the street Perez Houses of our city.
The Edil de Servicios Sociales has added that "its facilities have medical, psychological and social assistance, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, among other services, to achieve a standardized lifestyle that combines work and fun. That users are aware of their job possibilities so that they feel useful from their work, since they receive training that improves their quality of life and propitiates their personal autonomy. "
It should be noted that Asprodes receives more than 3.4 million euros from the Ministry for the care of people with intellectual disabilities, which allow to fund 202 places in its day center, residence, and residence for people with chronic mental illness.
Asprodes is a non-profit association, created in 1978, which in its career has received various awards for its work, including the Diploma of Distinguished Services of the Region of Murcia in 1995 and the Gold Medal of Lorca in 2006.
