More than 150 experts and professionals from the agri-food sector from all over the world gather from yesterday and until today Thursday in Lorca, the first congress on new table grape varieties organized by Grape Genesis, company specialized in the creation of grape varieties of Seedless table belonging to Genesis Innovation Group, a company that brings together a group of companies highly specialized in the development and integrated management of protected plant varieties worldwide.
Reflections and work on the creation of new and better varieties, in particular, is being addressed the progress achieved by Grape Genesis in seedless table grape varieties that provide additional benefits in the healthy part, with a higher content of antioxidants and Vitamins.
For producers who plant these new varieties, the main advantage will be the natural resistance to disease, reducing or eliminating the need to apply pesticides and fungicides.
The day consists of two sessions, on Wednesday was conducted a series of visits to different fields in the Region of Murcia Sheehan hybridization program of table grape varieties.
Today Thursday will continue with visits to farms, as well as to the Innovation Center of SNFL Group (Special New Fruit Licening).
International Conference on New Table Grape Varieties

The presentation titled "Evolution of the California Variety" will be given by Ross Jones, vice chair of the Viticulture Research California Table Grape Commission.
Eduardo Alonso Silva, an agronomist and plant scientist at the University of Chile, will discuss the effect of root and water development on the final quality and condition of table grapes.
Dustin Hooper, director of sales for Wonderful Nurseries, (California) will expose the need for clean vines as well as virus control.
After the coffee break, the lecture entitled "The Sheehan varieties, a technical perspective" will be addressed by Víctor Giancaspero, international consultant of Mesa Grapes.
Finally, Paul Farmer, technical manager of Sainsbury's will analyze the new table grape varieties from a market perspective
