The Town Council and the CARM coordinate the design of new improvement and conservation measures for the Lorca coast (24/08/2017)

The Autonomous Community improves the signage and information of this natural space and the infrastructures to make compatible the natural conservation and the enjoyment of its beaches, with an investment of 48,000 euros.

The Councilors of Environment and Emergencies in the City of Lorca, Satur Martínez and Juan Miguel Bayonas, together with the Director General of Natural Environment of CARM, Consuelo Rosauro, have supervised this morning the state of Lorca beaches, which this year are Receiving an important influx of visitors to enjoy the summer period in the extraordinary setting of the natural park of Puntas de Calnegre and Cabo Cope.

It should be noted that the Autonomous Community has implemented a series of improvement actions in the Regional Park of Calnegre and Cape Cope to ensure the preservation of the dune habitats it houses and the natural values ​​of this space, and make them compatible with public use and enjoyment Of the beaches, along the 17 kilometers of coast it occupies.

The improvements made in infrastructures and signaling, which allow a greater diffusion and preservation of this natural space, order their public use and conserve their natural wealth.

The Regional Park of Calnegre and Cabo Cope has 320 species among vegetables;

Large raptors such as Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), Royal owl (Bubo bubo) and Bonelli's eagle (Hieraatus fasciatus);

Reptiles such as the black-backed turtle (Testudo graeca), and marine wildlife.

Thus, you can see examples of such striking species as the moonfish (Mola mola) and some marine mammals such as the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus).

Among the actions are the improvement of signage and signage, aimed at informing the visitor and publicize the rules to achieve a good preservation of the natural environment;

The delimitation of access areas with bollards and wooden talanqueras, to prevent the entry of vehicles and people into sensitive areas such as the fossil dune, or the installation of viewpoints from which to enjoy the Regional Park Calnegre and Cape Cope.

Specifically, in the area of ​​Calnegre-Lomo de Bas have been enabled two viewpoints, placed interpretive signals of the mobile dunes and installed different signs of interest.

In the area of ​​Torre Cope have been placed the signals of interpretation of the fossil dune and wooden barriers for their protection, as well as specific signs of regulation and the GR92 path of the park.

Also, there are specific information panels in the White House area and the protected landscape Sierra de las Moreras has welcome, interpretation and normative signage.

The Community published in early 2017 the informative form 'Cultural corners of a natural landscape', which shows the main values ​​of the cultural landscape of the Regional Park of Calnegre and Cape Cope and was realized with the participation of neighboring neighborhood associations.

The guide locates the cultural sites of interest, as well as restaurants, accommodation and other auxiliary services of the main towns in the area (Calabardina, Campo López, Cuesta de Gos, Garrobillo, Morata, Puntas de Calnegre and Ramonete).

The text describes the most attractive corners of this ancient land, already inhabited by Neanderthals.

Among the heritage of this agricultural, fishing and mining landscape are monumental trees, towers, castles, churches of Castilian influence, ferries and mills, as well as picturesque villages and hamlets.

The brochure has no cost and is available in the main establishments in the area and in official reference centers, such as the tourist offices of Lorca and Aguilas.

The Regional Park of Calnegre and Cabo Cope is situated in the south of the Region, in the western portion of the Murcian coast.

Its coastline, bathed by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, extends over more than 17 kilometers, with an area of ​​1,032.21 nectarses in the municipalities of Aguilas and Lorca.
